Freelance Performance Technician · Congleton
Straight-talking diagnostics, servicing and performance work from someone who actually explains what's wrong and what it'll cost. Modified, mapped, tracked or just tired — I'll take it on.
What I do
Modified, mapped, tracked or just tired — I'll take it on. If it's outside what I can do properly, I'll tell you rather than have a guess at your expense.
I don't write maps myself. I work with a proper tuner and handle everything around it: the hardware, the fuelling, the fault-finding and getting it on the rollers.
Live data, scope work and proper testing — not a code reader and a parts cannon. You get the reading, the cause, and the fix.
Interim, full and major services with the oil and filters your engine actually specs — not whatever's cheapest in the drum.
Discs, pads, lines and fluid. Coilovers, springs, bushes, arms and geometry-aware setup for road or track.
Clutch and flywheel jobs, cambelt and chain replacement, water pumps and tensioners. Big jobs done once, done right.
Turbos, intercoolers, downpipes, exhausts, injectors, fuel systems, meth setups, intakes and big brake kits. Planned properly so the parts actually work together.
Everything from a rattle you can't place to head gaskets. Modern and older stuff, petrol and diesel.
Pre-MOT check to catch the obvious fails first, and the repair work to clear anything that's already come back on a sheet.
Pre-track checks, fluid and pad upgrades, build planning and honest advice on what's worth spending on next.
Who you're dealing with
I'm Lewis — a freelance automotive technician working out of my own workshop in Congleton. Over 10 years in the trade, most of it on modified and performance stuff, and I still post tech advice and build breakdowns to a few hundred people on Instagram because I'd rather owners understood their cars than got fleeced by them.
Booking with me means you speak to the person doing the work. No service advisor relaying a bad game of telephone, no "the computer says". You get photos, findings and a price before I pick up a spanner.
The work
Not stock photos. Every one of these has been through my workshop.
More of it, more often, on @lewisthetec.
Book in
Takes about a minute. Pop your reg in and I'll pull the vehicle details automatically. This is a request, not a confirmed slot — I'll come back to you to confirm the date and give you a price.
Questions
You get a price before I start, and nothing happens until you've agreed it. If I open something up and it turns out to be worse than it looked, I stop and ring you — I won't run up a bill you haven't agreed to. Diagnostics are charged at an hourly rate and that time comes off the repair if you go ahead with me.
That's most of what I do. Tick the "modified or mapped" box on the form so I can plan the time properly. Aftermarket parts, custom setups and project cars are all fine.
Not myself — I don't write maps. I work with a tuner I rate and handle everything around it: the hardware, the fuelling, the fault-finding and getting it on the rollers. You get one point of contact and I'm not guessing at something outside my lane.
I don't do the MOT test itself, but I do pre-MOT checks to catch the obvious fails, and I do the repair work to clear anything on a fail sheet you've already got.
Not quite — it's a request. I check it, look at the vehicle's history, then come back to you with a price and a slot. Usually within a few hours.
14 Silk Street, Congleton, CW12 4DH. I mainly cover Congleton, Alsager, Sandbach and Cheshire East, but people travel to me for the performance work.
Pick "Not sure — have a look" on the form and describe what it's doing. That's a diagnostic booking: I test it properly, tell you what I find, and quote the fix.
